Saddlers bring in Aramide Oteh on loan!

30 January 2019

Walsall FC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Aramide Oteh on loan from Championship side QPR until the end of the season, subject to the necessary clearance.

The 20-year-old becomes the Saddlers’ sixth signing of the January transfer window.

“Aramide is a striker we’ve been tracking for some time,” said manager Dean Keates.

“He comes with really good pedigree, having come through the ranks at Tottenham before moving on to QPR, where he has played at Championship level.

“He’s been in and around their first team in recent weeks, scoring against Leeds and starting against Portsmouth in the FA Cup last weekend.”

Keates revealed his connections with former teammate Paul Hall, Rangers’ Under-23s manager, played an important role in the move.

“Obviously I know ‘Hally’ from our time together as players here at Walsall,” Keates added.

“Both he and his fellow coaching staff rate Aramide highly so we’re grateful to them for allowing him to continue his development here.

“He’s a lively frontman who will give me plenty of food for thought and create more competition for places.”

The London-born striker was on Tottenham’s books as a youngster before joining QPR in January 2017.

Oteh scored six goals in six starts for QPR’s Under-23s in 2016/17, including four in one match against Colchester.

He netted 16 goals for the Under-23s last term and marked his full senior debut with a goal in a 3-1 Championship victory at Burton, playing six senior matches in 2017/18.

The pacey attacker has made five appearances for QPR this campaign, including a start against Portsmouth in the FA Cup last weekend and a goalscoring appearance against Leeds, also in the FA Cup, earlier this month.
